integrative and disintegrative self-knowledge: relationships with big five factors of personality

چکیده

self-knowledge is appeared to be an adaptive, dynamic , and integrative personality construct (ghorbani. et al. 2005b ). this study examined relations between se lf-know ledge ( integrative and disintegrative ), perspective-taking and the big five personality factors. as measured by self-knowledge (ghorbani. et al. 2003a ). personality (ipip). and perspective-taking (davis , 1983. in ghorbani , et al. 2003 b) questionnaires. using a sample of 288 students of university of tehran . the results significantly favored the assumptions, regarding mentioned relations. as we hypothesized, comparatively . integrative self-knowledge was found lo be more effective in prediction of all big five personality factors. whereas . disintegrative self knowledge was unable to predict emotional stability factor. furthermore. findings evidenced that higher-level of integrative self-knowledge implied higher-level of perspective-taking and higher score s in (he big five personality factors, except extraversion, this probably suggested that related behavioral implications of self-knowledge as a personally construct. partially could be accounted for perceived personality adjectives in the big five model.
